Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage

The word Ashiatsu (ashi means foot and atsu means pressure) is an ancient form of bodywork brought to us by Buddhist monks and has always been associated with traditional Shiatsu with underlining dynamics in the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The focus is on western application and sciences using foot compression to deliver Swedish massage.

Heated Stones

Heated stones provide warm relief to aching joints and muscles. Either of these elements feel terrific, even on the hottest summer days! The massage itself promotes circulation, sensory nerve perception, and lymphatic drainage and provides a deep sense of relaxation and well-being.

Facilitated Stretch

Facilitated stretching uses no oils or lotions.  Rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked. Our clients wear loose, comfortable clothing and lies on the massage table for treatment.  Using our hands or feet to incorporate therapeutic stretches we ease muscle stiffness and tightness that can cause chronic low back pain.

Swedish Massage

It involves soft, long, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes, on topmost layers of muscles. This is also combined with movement of the joints. By relieving muscle tension, Swedish massage therapy can be both relaxing and energizing.

Warm Bamboo

Bamboo massage is a technique that incorporates bamboo stalks of varying lengths and diameters to provide deep-tissue work. Using bamboo we deliver a massage that promotes circulation, sensory nerve perception, and lymphatic drainage and leaves you feeling relaxed.

Maternity Massage

Expectant mothers can receive massage throughout their pregnancy thanks to a special pillow bolster. It is made of thick foam and has holes cut out for mom’s growing belly and chest so she can lay face down and receive a massage comfortably.

Add-on Services

Looking for more than a barefoot massage? Enjoy a relaxing facial massage routine in which we use a mild facial cleanser and hot towels. Improve your level of relaxation with added aromatherapy! Take your whole body massage to your head too with out with our peppermint scalp treatment.

I discovered Ashiatsu Barefoot massage 10 years into my career as a bodyworker. I was experiencing carpel tunnel syndrome and would cringe when clients would request deep tissue massage. Within 5 minutes of receiving my first barefoot massage in training, I knew I had made the right decision about choosing to learn the barefoot modality.  Read more about Tiffany here

Why Ashiatsu Bar Therapy is so famous for back pain relief:

When correctly performing the advanced two-footed strokes a push-pull-pumping effect is created on the soft tissue that surrounds the spine. The movements along the para-spinal and the lumbar region can relieve muscle spasm and help to open the intervertebral foramen. Pressure on the nerve, which may be causing the pain, can now have more space to assume its natural position. The technique can also help to elongate the spine because the specific compression movements dramatically stretch the shorten muscles causing the pain.
